Ways to Study Effectively

Studying, it is an activity done by everyone. No one really stop learning, for we keep learning new things every day. However, a lot of students have trouble studying. Some students have short attention span; some have trouble understanding the subject they are trying to learn. But, I believe that if you have the will, studying is not a very difficult thing to do.
Nowadays, most students study in order to pass their exam, they have no real desire to understand or to delve deeper into the subjects. I will not say that this is wrong. In fact, it what I always do, it is what people always do. The cause is very simple, two words, “demanding parents”. Parents in majority often doesn’t care about their children’s understanding pertaining to the tested subjects, as long as their children get good grades – no matter how they obtain the score – they will be satisfied. This is why students are so uninterested in studying, not only that they feel studying is troublesome, they think that they only study for their parents.
But then, c’est la vie, that’s life. We will have to study, for our own sake, for our parents’ satisfaction, for the future. This is why I wrote this essay.
1.     Set your goals.
It is imperative to know what you are aiming for. Is it for perfect score, high score or would you be thankful just to be able to pass? Some subjects are difficult and some are quite easy. In order to study better, you will have to know what kind of results you want to receive. Better results will require your very best effort.
2.    Set a study timetable.
You wouldn’t feel more burden if you study small parts overtime. Studying little by little will enhance your ability to focus on a more difficult part. So, it is a good idea to study long before your exam. You will be more-prepared compared to studying the night before your exam and it will be better for you in the long run.
3.    Ask questions.
If have trouble understanding a subject, it is always a good idea to have someone explain it to you. You could ask a teacher or an older sibling and if you have one, a tutor. If you are reluctant to ask the teacher, ask a friend who have better in the subject.
4.    Comprehending subjects rather than memorizing.
A lot of students memorize their whole notebook instead of taking the main idea of what they are learning and put it into their own words. Memorizing will take a lot out of you, especially if you study the night before the exam or if there are too many materials tested. If you absolutely have to memorize, (ergo, you are learning Social Studies or Civics) relate it to something you will be able to memorize faster.
5.    Practice.
Always remember, practice makes perfect. If you are learning something that needs counting, practice it every day. And if you are having trouble memorizing the theoretical subjects, it is a good idea to jot it down again and again until you get it down.
6.    Relax, take a break.
Don’t fell rushed up when you are studying. You are less likely to understand something when you are studying under pressure. This is why it is a good idea to study long before an exam. Remember, your brain can only take so much. Take breaks from time to time when you are studying.

You should be able to obtain satisfactory results if you give it your best effort. And as far as short attention span goes, try on studying little by little (part by part) and take breaks. Just don’t push yourself to hard. There is that to it.Happy studying.
